"What's Amelia gonna deal ya"

I'll tell you what its gonna deal ya !!!!!!!!!  Top Six is final and Larry Fadaol made a charge the last half of the year to walk away with the "Angler of the Year" Award.  On the day, Larry and newcomer Russell Dorion had 4 keepers totaling 9.81 lbs for 1st place.  The duo eeked by David Billings and Lawrence Brunet's 9.21 lb bag of 4 fish....Bob Gaudet and David Zabolio brought in 3 nice ones that totaled 8.58 lbs to take 3rd....Fadaols 8.00 lb sack took 1st individually, following Larry was David Billings' 6.57 lbs for 2nd, Brooks Webre tallied 6.56 lbs for 3rd.  Webre appears to be "getting in a groove" by vaulting from 15th place to 3rd place in 2 tournaments....Randy Angelle had a nice 4.18 lb bass to take 1st place in the Big Fish event.....Completing the top six in teams were: 4th-Randy Angelle & Joe Phillips with 6.23 lbs, 5th-Elmer Savoie & Jeromy Stansbury's 4.07 lbs, 6th-Randy Prejean & Raymond Mahfouz with 3.24 lbs....Individually: 4th-Bob Gaudet with 5.44 lbs., 5th-Randy Angelle's 4.18 and Jim Walton's 3.21 lbs.  Also, Larry had a 3.34 pounder, David Billings-3.27 lbs & David Zabolio-3.14 lbs What a great year, we grew from 12 guys our first meeting in May of 2006 to 32 members ending in 2007....

SAM RAYBURN -October 19th and 20th

"No Hex'as in Texas"

Whoa Nellie !!!!   Brooks Webre rang up (or rattled) some gigantic numbers with 20.23 lbs and 6 fish for the 2 days.  He also had Big Fish for the weekend with a 4.68 lb largemouth and another big one Saturday weighing 3.52 lbs.  That broke the old record held by Randy Prejean's 15.27 lbs caught at Toledo Bend.  Larry Fadaol all but sewed up Angler of the Year by catching 13.73 lbs for 2nd place.  Jim Walton's 13.04 lbs was 3rd, David Billings sacked 11.68 lbs for 4th, Randy Angelle had 10.49 lbs for 5th and Randy Prejean made the top six with 9,89 lbs.   Brooks and Mark Angelle paired up to capture 1st with 29.31 lbs to take the team event.  Jim Walton and guest Jean Trahan took 2nd with 19.98 lbs, 3rd had David Billings and teammate Jeromy Stansbury's 16.53 lbs.  Larry and Bob Gaudet caught 15.89 lbs for 4th, Randy Prejean and Devin Lantier nailed down 5th with 15.16 lbs and the duo of Lawrence Brunet and Daniel Bryant were 6th with 13.56 lbs.   Okay, some of us are blaming the change of weather for not catching as many fish as we expected to (that's my story and I am sticking to it) but others swear it had no affect on the fish at all.  Rumor has it that we will visit the lake again in the spring of 2008.  One more tournament to go and its the High-Low finale' at Amelia.  Be thinking about places you would like to see the club fish in 2008, we will be taking suggestions either next month or in December.

BAYOU BENOIT/BASIN - September 15

"Sensation of the Basin"

"Taking on the Teche"

Well, it was better than expected....35 fish weighed in for a total of 53.28 lbs and an average weight of 1.53 lbs....don't forget, it was a 12" limit, not 14.  When the smoke had cleared Mark Angelle's 4.16 lb Big Fish for the day helped him to a 6.86 lb total to take 1st place.  Henry Toucheck returned to action to tally 5.09 lbs for 2nd, following close behind and capturing 3rd was Lawrence Brunet's  4.93 bag.  Elmer Savoie brought in a limit totaling 4.82 lbs for 4th, AOC President, Joe Phillips got back on track for a 5th place finish with 4.78 lbs....New standings leader, Larry Fadaol brought in 4.60 lbs for 6th.   The teams stacked up pretty tight especially for 1st and 2nd.... Joe and Lawrence lead the pack with a 6 fish team limit topping the scales at 9.71 lbs just edging out the 9.69 lb sack that Henry and Larry brought in.  Mark Angelle paired up with Raymond Mahfouz for 3rd with their 6.86 lb catch.  4th place belonged to Elmer and "Bull" Bryant's 6.64 lbs of largemouth.  The duo of David "Lucky" Hebert and Bubba Patin snagged 6.61 lbs for 5th while Randy Angelle and David Zabolio finished 6th with 4.40 lbs.  Teams are now looking ahead to Bayou Benoit for the "Sensation of the Basin" for September's event and the "No Hex'as in Texas" set for October and then the Big Finale' at Amelia for the "What's Amelia gonna deal ya."

Well, the typical weather pattern for this time of the year, rain, wind and a frontal passage awaited the 16 teams fishing (4 teams stayed home) for top honors as AOFC kicked off the year at Chicot Lake.  The only good news about the weather was that it wasn't a serious cold front that moved through.  The event was our "guest" tournament with members inviting a non-member to fish with them (if possible).  When the day ended and the storms subsided, to some degree. TOP CATS-FALSE RIVER- 2/03/07

The 2007 season got a running start with AOCF hosting the Inaugural TOP CATS tournament out of False River on Feb. 3.  A total of 6 clubs were represented those being, Miss-Lou Christian Club from Ferriday, Masters Casters of Gonzales, Anglers for Christ of Pine Prairie, Fishin for Jesus out of Zachary, Christian Fellowship of Bass Anglers of Lafayette and the host club, Anglers of Christ also from Lafayette.  When the dust had settled, okay, when the ice had thawed, AOFC squeezed by CFBA to take the top spot by .17 lbs. (6.89 to 6.72).  Third place had Masters Casters with 5.45 lbs and Fishin for Jesus capturing 4th with 5.30 lbs.  Fifth spot was rung up by Anglers for Christ with a 2.34 lb catch.  Miss-Lou rounded out the Top Six.

"Z man", George Zimmer with Masters Casters, hooked into a nice 4.09 lb largemouth to toke Big Fish honors for the day.

Plans may be in the making for a return trip later on this year back to False River for another tournament of some sort.  Details will come later this year.

Thanks to all that participated and helped with getting this Christian Angler Top Six (CATS) tournament going.  It's been talked about for years and it finally happened. Nothing but compliments heard at the weigh-in, as all are looking forward to meeting up again.  The things common with all of us of course is Bass Fishing, Fellowship and mainly our Love For The Lord.  Without Him, none of it would be possible.
