2010 Tournament Recaps MINI BENEFIT - DECEMBER 11th "Military Help Time" The Anglers of Christ Bass Club of Lafayette hosted its 1st Annual “Mini Benefit” Tournament at Henderson on December 11, 2010. All proceeds went to help out military families of those having been, or still serving active duty. The winners of the event get to claim “bragging rights” for the next year. The team of Tim & Aaron Choate claimed 1st place by way of catching a 3 fish limit (per boat) weighing in at 7.48 lbs. Sitting in 2nd place was the duo of Randy Prejean & Al Perry with a weight of 6.94 lbs. 3rd place had Lawrence Brunet & Mike Dubuc with a limit coming in at 6.33 lbs. Daniel Beasley & partner Daniel Bryant sacked 2 fish with a weight of 4.96 lbs for 4th place. Bryan Breaux fished alone and bagged 2 keepers weighing 3.79 lbs for 5th place. David Hebert, also fishing alone had 1 fish weighing 3.04 lbs to nail down 6th. Charlie Kibbe & Doc Bryant also had one keeper that came in at 1.98 lbs to take 7th place. Most of the fish caught were on spinnerbaits, jigs and crankbaits. A total of 15 bass were weighed in, totaling of 34.52 lbs, averaging 2.31 lbs per fish. Thanks to the 14 teams that participated and those that donated to make the event a success. A total of over $1000 was raised on the day, not bad considering the entry fee was only $20 per boat. We look forward to holding the event again next year and with bigger expectations
STEPHENSVILLE - NOVEMBER 20th "The Thrill of Stephensville" Well, "It's a Wrap"....2010 has proven to be another record setting year. New records set: Mark Angelle had 12.20 lbs to set a new 1 day Individual tournament weight...Guess what ?? He did it with only 2 fish, not 3....Mark, Lawrence Brunet and Daniel Bryant also cracked the Total Weight for the year Individually, Mark's new total is 78.75 lbs. Congratulations guys and a pat on the back to the entire club as we set a new record for Total Weight for the club with 915.10 lbs..... THE TOP SIX FOR 2010: Mark Angelle, Lawrence Brunet, Daniel Bryant, Randy Prejean, Devin Lantier and Bubba Patin. Moving right along to the "Stephensville Thrill", there were some beautiful fish brought in for the day, both individually and team wise as well. This was our annual High - Low Tournament. On the Team Event, Daniel Bryant and Elmer Savoie smacked 11.49 lbs for 1st place. Hot on their heels were Devin Lantier & Daniel Beasley with 11.09 lbs of fish. Daniel also took "Big Fish" honors on the day with a nice 4.59 lb largemouth. Mark Angelle got some help from Russell Dorion to walk away with 3rd place having 10.70 lbs brought to the scales. Individually, Lawrence Brunet KO'd 3 fish with a nice 8.17 lb catch to take 1st place, he also had 2nd place big fish with a 3.17 lb fish. Beasley's 7.20 lb bag took 2nd place, followed by Russell's 7.16 lb catch for 3rd. Bryant's 6.51 lbs captured 4th, Nelson Lantier's 6.21 lb bagged 5th and Jim Walton sat in 6th with 5.88 lbs of fish. TEAMS: 4th-Nelson Lantier & Bubba Patin had 10.43 lbs. 5th-Lawrence Brunet & David Hebert with 9.48 lbs. 6th-Randy Prejean & Doc Bryant had 7.98 lbs. 7th-Jim Walton & Al Perry had 6.88lbs. 8th-Sonny Bajat & Bob Gaudet with 4.54 lbs. 9th-New Member, Larry Bedell and Guest Jessie Charpentier had 2.19 lbs. INDIVIDUAL: 7th-Elmer Savoie with 4.98 lbs, 8th-Bubba Patin 4.22 lbs, 9th-Randy Prejean had 4.16 lbs, 10th Devin Lantier with 3.89 lbs, 11th-Doc Bryant had 3.82 lbs. 12th-Mark Angelle with 3.54 lbs. 13th-Sonny Bajat had 3.23 lbs, 14th-Jessie Charpentier 2.19 lbs 15th Tie-Bob Gaudet had 1.31 lbs. as did David Hebert, 17th-Al Perry hooked 1.00 lbs. 18th-Larry Bedell, chauffered his partner. A total of 42 bass were weighed in, totaling of 74.78 lbs, averaging 1.78 lbs per fish.
TOLEDO BEND - OCTOBER 22,23 "Once Again, its Toledo Bend" Oh so close !!! Bubba Patin and Mark Angelle knocked on the door of history, seeking to break Randy Prejean and Devin Lantier's 2 day TEAM event record. The pair reeled in a massive 12 fish weight of 35.79 lbs and just missed the 35.97 lb record by 0.18 lbs. The team headed north to catch their fish, most came on Bandit crankbaits. They headed through timber, tall and short to record their victory. Daniel Bryant & Jason Prather bagged 24.40 lbs to walk away with 2nd place, each catching a limit both days. Devin Lantier and Randy Prejean edged out Lawrence Brunet and Al Perry for 3rd place with a 20.65 sack of largemouth bass. Brunet and Perry tallied 20.05 lbs for 4th place. Sonny Bajat bagged 7.57 lbs the final day to vault he and Greig Prejean into 5th place with 19.51 lbs of fish. 6th place team of Joe Phillips and Nelson Lantier managed to catch 18.86 lbs to nail down 6th place. INDIVIDUALLY, Bubba had 18.46 lbs for 1st and had Big Fish for the event with a nice 4.33 lb bass, Mark was 2nd with 17.33 lbs. 3rd place was Daniel Bryant's 14.57 lbs, 4th place belonged to Lawrence Brunet with 13.44 lbs. Bryan Tabor jumped to 5th with 12.00 lbs and Devin Lantier's 10.78 lbs completed the Top Six. TEAMS: 7th-Jim Walton & Bob Gaudet had 17.32 lbs. 8th-Bryan Tabor & Jeremy Durham with 16.60 lbs. 9th-Shad Lantier & Elmer Savoie had 15.99 lbs. A total of 97 bass were weighed in, totaling of 189.87 lbs, averaging 1.96 lbs per fish.
BASIN - BAYOU BENOIT - SEPTEMBER 25th "Home Stretch" A total of 54 bass were weighed in, totaling of 91.36 lbs, averaging 1.70 lbs per fish. The rain held off for most of the day as we headed to Bayou Benoit for our 8th tournament of the year. Those Bayou Boutte boys got hammered on their way back to the weigh in, some left their slicker suits at home, go figure. Mark Angelle traded Prejean's from last month, going from Randy to Greig, the pair bagged 3 keepers a piece for 1st Place with a 13.97 lb catch. Team Daniel, Beasley and Bryant also had 6 fish with a 11.84 lb stringer to take 2nd Place. Jeremy Durham's BIG FISH for the day, a nice 4.22 lb hog paired up with Randy Prejean's catch captured 3rd Place with nice 10.76 lb sack. Individually, Greig Prejean's 7.10 lb total grabbed 1st place. Durham bagged 6.94 lbs for 2nd place, followed by Angelle's 6.87 lb sack for 3rd. Elmer Savoie followed his guide's lead for 4th with 6.73 lbs, Daniel Bryant had 6.59 lbs for 5th and Lawrence Brunet finished off the Top Six 6 with 5.83 lbs. BASIN - VERDUNVILLE - AUGUST 21st "Sweating the Hits" A total of 45 bass were weighed in, totaling of 78.22 lbs, averaging 1.74 lbs per fish. Well despite all the rain, the fishing turned out great on the day for all the anglers. Thank God for that little breeze every once in a while. We headed way down south to Verdunville for the 7th stop on the year. Mark Angelle & Randy Prejean hooked up and hooked 3 keepers a piece for 1st Place with a 12.77 lb catch. Doc Bryant & Devin Lantier stuck 6 fish with a 11.85 lb stringer. Doc's BIG FISH for the day, a nice 3.89 lb beauty secured 2nd place for the team. Lawrence Brunet & Jeremy Durham roamed the basin for 10.08 lbs to take 3rd place. Individual scores for the Top Six had Doc leading the pack with 7.74 lbs, Randy bagged 6.54 lbs, followed by zero to hero Jim Walton's 6.33 lb sack. Mark took 4th with 6.23 lbs, Jeremy had 5.22 lbs for 5th and 2nd place Big Fish with a 3.83 lb fish. Wayne Clifton nailed down 6th with 5.16 lbs. BASIN - BAYOU BENOIT - JULY 24th "Downhill-Final Five" Ever heard the term "Lapping The Field" ?? Well, that's what Lawrence Brunet & partner Wayne Clifton did on this our 6th stop of the year. Their 5 fish bag totaled 11.39 lbs to take 1st place on the day. Jim Walton and Elmer Savoie took 2nd with 3 fish scaling in at 5.27 lbs. Mark Angelle and co-angler Jeremy Durham walked off with 3rd place and a 5.16 lb sack of largemouth bass. Individually, Lawrence lead the way with 3 nice ones that totaled 6.70 lbs. Walton's 5.27 lb total took 2nd and broke a string zero's for Mr. Orez. Wayne bagged a pair of keepers that came to the scales weighing 4.69 lbs. to take 3rd. Mark hooked 3.36 lbs to take 4th, Bryan Tabor's Big Fish for the day, a nice 3.17 lb fish, took 5th individually. and Randy Prejean seems to wait until the end of the day to catch a fish, he took 6th with a 2.93 lb beauty. BASIN - HENDERSON - June 26th "Facin da Basin" The weather was HOT, the river was rising, so we set off for Henderson for our 5th stop of the year. It was our first paper weigh tournament of the year. All fish 12 inches up to 14 inches were papered. 14 inches and over were brought in to the scales. Mark Angelle & Brooks Webre paired up and took the top spot on the day. The duo brought in 6 fish on the day that tallied 11.17 lbs. Team Bryant, Doc & Daniel paired up and had 6 keepers totaling 10.77 lbs for 2nd place. Elmer Savoie returned to 3rd place fishing with Wayne Clifton sacking 5 keepers for a 9.69 lb total weight. Individually, Lawrence Brunet's 3 fish, 6.32 lb bag locked up 1st place. Randy Prejean's 6.27 lb catch (2 fish) claimed 2nd. Jason Prather's 3 fish weight of 6.24 lbs had 3rd place. Doc's 6.21 lbs was 4th. Wayne Clifton had the only 3 fish limit over 14 inches to take 5th with 5.96 lbs. Mark filled out the Top Six with 3 keepers weighing in at 5.44 lbs. Randy reeled in a nice 5.11 lb bass for Big Fish honors for the day. PATTERSON/BAYOU TECHE - May 22nd "Repeat Performance" Surely "The End Times" are near. Why you ask ??? In the team event, Al Perry and Bob Gaudet paired up and took top honors on our return visit to the Teche at Patterson. The duo brought in 5 keepers on the day that tallied 13.49 lbs. Next door neighbors, Mark Angelle & Bubba Patin paired up and had 6 keepers totaling 11.67 lbs for 2nd place. Elmer Savoie returned to action hooking up with Daniel Bryant and sacking 4 keepers for an 11.11 total weight. On the individual side, Daniel's 7.41 lb bag locked up 1st place. Al's 6.80 lb catch. claimed 2nd. Bob's 2 fish weight of 6.69 lbs had 3rd place. Bubba's 6.63 lbs was 4th. Devin Lantier had 3 fish to take 5th with 6.28 lbs. Newcomer, Bryan Tabor rounded out the Top Six with 3 keepers weighing in at 5.99 lbs. Elmer's 3.60 took Big Fish for the day, Bob's 3.33 was 2nd and Al's 3.11 was 3rd. PATTERSON/BAYOU TECHE - April 24th "Getting it done at Patterson" Mother Nature once again tried to spoil a fishing trip, once again, fervent prayer prevailed. All those tornado and severe thunderstorms with accompanying hail never materialized. Did the wind blow, of course it did....Devin Lantier and Greig Prejean each "birdied" on the day with a 3 fish limit to take Top Honors on the day on the team side...their 11.30 lb bag edged out the "crippled" team of Randy Prejean and Al Perry's 9.09 lb, 5 fish total. 3rd place was Mark Angelle and "Aquaman", aka Wayne Clifton with 4 fish totaling 7.54 lbs. On the individual side, Mark's 6.21 lb bag snuck on by Devin's 6.03 lb catch. "Wheels" Prejean had 3 that came in at 5.29 lbs for 3rd. Greig's 4.97 total came in 4th, Lawrence Brunet had 3 for 4.78 lbs for 5th and Bubba Patin reeled in 3 for 4.68 lbs to complete the Top Six for the day. 27th Win, Win, Windy !!!! Goodness gracious, this trip was as windy as the October tournament, maybe more....10 MPH minimum, 35 MPH maximum, everyday...Mother Nature blessed us with beautiful days but sure could have left the wind out for the tournament days. Of course there are always a few anglers that manage to bring in some nice fish. Newcomer, Daniel Beasley took Big Fish honors for the 2 day event with a beauty and coming in at 6.80 lbs. The bigun fell prey to the infamous Bill Lewis rattle trap. The FIL-SIL team of Randy Prejean and Devin Lantier, aka T-Frog caught a limit both days to take top honors on the team side with a nice 23.86 lb catch. The duo caught their fish on watermelon/gold Senko's fishing near or in the buck brush. Beasley's big fish enabled he and teammate Daniel Bryant to cash in for 2nd place with 21.33 lbs. The pair caught on a variety of baits. Mark Angelle hooked up with Bubba Patin to take 3rd place with 11.93 lbs of bass. Individually, 1st place belonged to Daniel Bryant as he bagged 6 fish for a total weight of 13.68 lbs. He also had Big Bass on day 2 with a nice 3.40 keeper. Randy had 12.02 lbs on his 6 fish to capture 2nd place. T-Frog also had 6 that came in at 11.84 lbs to take the 3rd spot. Beasley followed in 4th with 2 fish that weighed 8.65 lbs. Lawrence Brunet caught 4 fish pitching the buck brush, his total was 8.40 lbs. to take 5th place. Mark Angelle rounded out the Top Six with his 8.18 lb total. CHICOT LAKE -GUEST TOURNAMENT-FEB.
27th Chicot Lake played host to our 5th Annual Guest Tournament as 16 teams headed north for our yearly visit. Rain, high and unusually muddy water had most anglers looking high and low for a chance to hook that big one. For the 3rd year in a row, the lake gave us another record setting day. Once again, it seems Mark Angelle had the answer as rang up 2 fish weighing in at 12.20 lbs and breaking the Individual 1 Day record of 12.06 lbs set by Daniel Bryant in last years Guest Tournament. Mark's 8.24 lb beauty anchored his weight and also took BIG FISH for the day (and probably for the year). Mark Angelle Jr. brought in 2 as well that totaled 6.23 lbs giving Team Angelle 18.43 lbs to capture the Team Event. Lawrence Brunet and Mike Dubuc had 5 keepers for 2nd Place, total weight came in at 13.76 lbs. 3rd Place had Daniel Bryant and Jason Prather also with 5 fish scaling in at 12.25 lbs. Individual winners had Mark Sr. with 12.20 lbs, Lawrence was 2nd with 9.81 lbs and Joe "I'm Back" Phillips was 3rd with 2 nice fish weighing 7.02 lbs. A little side note: Since the club started in 2006, we have had 3 tournaments in which we averaged 3 lbs or better, yep, all 3 were at Chicot. You might not catch alot but the ones you catch are usually big. TEAMS: 4th-Joe Phillips and Danny Hebert with 7.02 lbs, 5th-Greig Prejean and Scott Bizette had 6.19 lbs, 6th-Jeremy Durham and Shane Cormier 6.04 lbs, 7th-Randy Prejean and Angel Guillen 4.30 lbs, 8th-Wayne Clifton and Andrew Myers 3.04 lbs. INDIVIDUAL: 4th-Jeremy Durham with 6.04 lbs, 5th-Daniel Bryant had 5.03 lbs, 6th-Randy Prejean 4.30 lbs, 7th-Wayne Clifton 3.04lbs. GUESTS: 1st-Jason Prather 7.23 lbs, 2nd- Mark Angelle Jr. 6.23 lbs, 3rd-Scott Bizette 6.19 lbs, 4th-Mike Dubuc 3.95 lbs. A total of 23 bass were weighed in totaling 71.03 lbs, averaging 3.08 lbs.

CATS TOURNAMENT-FEB. 6th Chilly ??? Not a bit !!! COLD ??? You betcha !!! Water temps were reportedly in the mid 20's to freezing but looks like the fish were somewhat hungry as 5 of the 6 participating clubs brought in fish for the 4th Annual TOP CATS Event. Anglers of Christ Bass Club from Lafayette, became the first two time winner since our 2007 start. Members Randy Prejean, Lawrence Brunet, Daniel Bryant, David Zabolio, Greig Prejean and Mark Angelle teamed up to bring in 7 keepers weighing 14.68 lbs. Masters Casters of Gonzalas' members George Zimmer, David Ellis, Dennis Kirby and Terry Munn bagged 5 fish totaling 12.82 lbs. Sonny Bajat and Jeremy Durham fished as fill-ins for the club. Zimmer and Ellis had big bag for the day with 9.84 lbs. Lafayette Christian Bass Club took 3rd with 4 fish scaling 12.24 lbs. and lead by Brooks Webre's Big Fish for the day weighing 5.12 lbs. Webre fished with O'neal Sullivan, they had 9.46 lbs plus Chance Angelle and David Billings' 2.78 lb sack. The big one came on jig and pig. Lafayette's Christian Fellowship of Bass Anglers landed 5 fish with a total weight of 10.55 lbs for fourth place. The team consisted of Gene Guidry, David Hamner, Doc Bryant, Charlie Kibbe, Brian Crochet and Vince Sauro. 1st Baptist of Zachary fielded Lane Thomas, Tommy Roberts, Clay Fletcher and Tim Asmussin to hook a pair of keepers totaling 4.27 lbs to take 5th place. Anglers of Christ members Brent Malagarie, David Plunkett, James Arnaud, Dave Newman and fill-ins Bob Gaudet and Jeff Bigelow got cold feet and left early (except Bob and Jeff).......The Anglers of Christ took home $160 which will be donated to a worthy cause or ministry work.
