HENDERSON - December 10, 2011

"HOT" Tournament

"Helping Our Troops"

Waiting to see what God has in store for us for this year's "HOT" Tournament.  We will be helping out the Hamilton family that lost Aaron in an auto accident on 11-11-11 (Veterans Day). Aaron left behind his wife, Lynn and 5 children, ages 3 to 17.  Aaron was a navy veteran so we thought with the situation being as it is, this would be a family that AOC would help out.  Hope to see you on the water for the tournament.

Well, another great tournament is in the books...we had 17 teams participate this year and were able once again to raise over $1000.  Many thanks to all that helped make is successful.  Whether you fished it, donated or helped put it together, congratulations !!!  Thanks to God for a blessed day, a little chilly to start but bearable all day and thanks for keeping all of us safe. Update 1 - Looks like we will be pushing $1500 or more to be given to the family, the cash keeps rolling in.        Update 2 -Well, I said the cash keeps rolling in and did it, we were able to give the family a check in the amount of $2000.00  . Thanks Again !!!!

Talk about dodging a bullet !!!  Those duck hunters on the lake had most of the anglers on edge, those b-b's were flying and shots were ringing through the air.  Dana Fontenot of Breaux Bridge teamed up with Travis Charlie of Talisheck to claim "The Bragging Rights" for the next year with a 3 fish limit that came in at 5.56 lbs.  Hot on their heels and claiming 2nd place were Sonny Bajat and David Hebert, the pair also came in with a limit that scaled in at 5.39 lbs.  Al Perry and Lawrence Brunet hooked up and into 3 fish that weighed in at 4.86 lbs. for 3rd place.  Fontenot and Charlie also had big fish for the day with a 2.10 lb bass.

Again, thanks to all of you that helped out and hope to see you on the water in the coming year and definitely next December.

SAM RAYBURN - October 21-22, 2011

"Close the Deal"

Well, it got better. The weather that is. Usually the cold front pounds us on both days of our tournament but God had a better plan for us this weekend. Wednesdays pre-fish day was useless as the wind played havoc on those trying to get on the water. Thursday was much better and Friday and Saturday were near perfect for a change. Low water conditions eliminated areas we normally fish and looks like it had the Big Fish hanging out in unfamiliar waters and anglers are still looking for that big bite. Once again, Mark Angelle and Bubba Patin put on their "rally caps" and rose to the top of the leader board when day two wrapped up as the duo hooked 15.26 lbs of bass Saturday after a sixth place finish on day one with 8.94 lbs. That two day total of 24.20 lbs nailed down the team event for the weekend. Mark also took the top spot individually as well with a nice two day total of 12.88 lbs. PATTERSON  June 25, 2011

"Where's the Deal"

Where's the deal ended up at Patterson fishing the Teche...High water in the basin had us looking for a place to pitch a bait to some nice largemouth bass and the Teche treated us fairly well. The Top Six voted on paper weighing all fish for the months of June, July and August, so now we wait to see if the basin is fishable the next few months.  When the dust settled on this day in the team event, 2010 Angler of the Year, Mark Angelle and partner Doc Bryant, reeled in a nice limit coming in at 12.69 lbs. just edging out the 2nd place of Tommy Kilpatrick and Brian Tabor, they bagged 12.64 lbs of bass.  Devin Lantier and Russell Dorion teamed up to claim 3rd place with 9.13 lbs of green trout. 4th place had Jim Walton and Troy Bellard with 8.06 lbs of fish. CHICOT LAKE - April 16th

"Really Big Deal"

Windy conditions hounded all of the anglers but it didn't seem to have much affect on Daniel Bryant as he breezed by Mark Angelle's 12.20 lb club record (he only caught 2 fish that day) set in 2010 at - you guessed it - Chicot Lake. Daniel's 3 fish total came in at 15.56 lbs. So, now you know why it was called "REALLY BIG DEAL" even before the day started. As tough as the lake is, it always seems to provide AOC with a record of some sort, year after year. This marked the 4th year in a row that a record was broken at Chicot.

TOLEDO BEND - March 25th & 26th

"Two Day Deal"

Off we went to Toledo Bend only to be stung by the "Killer "B's"....Beasley's that is. Absolutely beautiful weather was in store for our 2 day event.  Windy of course, but when have we ever fished in March and not have the wind blowing 20+ MPH.  Great fellowship time for our evening meal at Marie's and topped off with a great devotional by Lawrence. The club weighed in at Pendleton on the Texas side, not as crowded as we expected so all went well for both days.

The Team Event was taken by the father and son combo of David and Daniel Beasley as the pair had Big Stringer for both days. Their 15.37 lbs led the first day and they followed it with 14.36 lbs the 2nd day for 29.73 lbs. (12 fish). Sitting in 2nd place were a pair of newcomers to AOC, Tony Kemp and Paul Barnes.
